As you may know, the County of Arlington and the City of Alexandria sent a letter to all Property Owners/Managers asking to provide tenants with relief during the COVID-19 crisis. We have heard from several members who expressed concern with the potential ramifications of this action.

On behalf of the NVAA Board of Directors and Membership, and in consultation with select members of the board, this letter was written and sent to these jurisdictions in response to their request.

We do look forward to an open and productive dialogue with all local jurisdictions to find compromises that are both reasonable and practical.

Last week NVAA issued a survey to our database asking your opinion of how we handle upcoming events. Approximately 50% of respondents have taken some sort of action to remind and educate their tenants and employees including hanging posters, sending an email and adding sanitizers in high traffic areas as well as canceling events. Nearly 90% of respondents indicated they prefer for NVAA to postpone or reschedule upcoming events.

The Chairman of the 2019 NVAA Nominating Committee, Kevin Eakin, has issued this Call for Nominations for the election of officers/directors for the Northern Virginia Apartment Association for terms to be served in 2019 (January 1, 2019 – December 31, 2020 term in office).  The 2019 Board of Directors will be elected September 26, 2018 at the Annual NVAA Meeting and officially take office January 1, 2019.
